As a digital creator specializing in off-the-beaten-path travel experiences, my mission is to inspire and guide explorers to discover hidden gems and authentic destinations on a budget. Through engaging content and insights, I aim to showcase the beauty of backroads and non-touristy places, fostering a deep connection with the culture and environment while making travel accessible to all adventure seekers.

Hello
My name is Tammie Browning from Sevierville, Tennessee. I am 54 years old and a native to Sevierville. Land of Dolly Parton, Dollywood, the Great Smoky Mountains, and endless attractions. Our National Park gets over 15 million visitors each year and tourism is our primary industry. This page will continually be updated as I continue to travel. Check back often for things I share from all over the US and locally.
My Story
I am a traveler! I certainly have a love of going, seeing, and experiencing new places. Growing up my family enjoyed vacations and trips as often as we could. When I married my husband Dan in 1991, I was lucky to find someone who enjoyed roaming almost as much as I do. Our daughter, Olivia, came alone in 2004 and added fun to our travels.
My parents had dreams of retiring and traveling. However, my dad passed before having the chance to retire in 2006. They did manage to get a bit of traveling in beforehand. That was a wakeup call to do what we can as soon as we can. Don't put off things. We do not know if we have tomorrow. My mom, Sarah, has always been a huge part of our travels and she likes to go as much as I do!
These three people (my husband, daughter, and mom) have been and are still my main travel partners. My daughter now has a boyfriend, John, who sometimes joins us. And I do travel for work a bit each year so I have some co-workers, Cyndie & Dawn, who you may find along the path with me. I no doubt have a gypsy heart, but like a place to call home. You may find some occasional appearances from other friends or family.
For a profession, I am the Sales & Marketing Director for the Sevier County Fair. This is my hometown fair that I grew up attending and love all the fair brings to our community each year. It is a year-round job. I started volunteering with the fair in 2012 and became staff in 2019. So, there are months I have more freedom to travel than others. Typically, you will not find me traveling much from June through mid-September. But if I can sneak in a day trip, I will!
When Facebook started, I began sharing pictures and information about our trips and friends enjoyed engaging with me about them. Many found it great to be able to travel with us because they were not able to travel for a variety of reasons. I did this on my own personal page for over a decade, then began my Backroad Bucket List Facebook page. In 2020, during COVID, I started my own YouTube channel, Instagram, and TikTok. I have enjoyed sort of playing around a bit with those. For the start of 2024, I decided to dedicate more time sharing our adventures with as many as I can and hopefully turning this into a way we can travel more as well. In 2025 I still find myself working as hard as I can between my real job and life to dedicate more time to make this something bigger.
My goal is to share with you budget-minded travel with the main focus on roads less traveled helping you find amazing places off the beaten path across the nation. You may find some "common" places that are more touristy, but I always hope to share with you something that most would pass on by. I have no problem hopping aboard a plane to take a trip, but I much prefer to take the backroads to see this beautiful nation!
