Curated for You

Grand Canyon & Cameron Trading Post

My mom and I had both been to the Grand Canyon before and spend more time there on those visits.  This visit was a quick drive through since we were so close.  I have to tell you, even being there before, pulling up to those rims and seeing the vastness will absolutely take your breath away.  There are no words nor pictures that will ever prepare you for seeing this.  The Grand Canyon is a MUST visit National Park.  With that said, the Camerson Trading Post is a place you must visit, stay, and eat!!!  Don't miss it...and bet the Navajo Fry Bread.  You will thank me!  You can find a bit more history, facts, details, and tips at the links below:

The Grand Canyon is about 1,904 square miles or 1,218,375 acres?  The entire state of Rhode Island (1,214 square miles or 776,960 acres)
could fit inside the Grand Canyon.  Yes, the Grand Canyon is huge, but it is not the deepest canyon in the world.  It is 6,093 feet deep and 18 miles across at its widest point.  However, the largest canyon in the world is the Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon in Tibet. That same canyon is actually longer than the Grand Canyon as well.

Teddy Roosevelt’s visit to the Grand Canyon in 1903 convince him to protect it.  In 1906 by using a presidential proclamation he established the Grand Canyon Game Preserve. The park was then declared a national monument two years later in 1908 and in 919 the Grand Canyon was finally declared a national park.  It is the second most visited national park with 5.9 million visitors per year.  Second only to my hometown Great Smoky Mountains with over 15 million visitors per year.
