St. Jude's Chapel of Hope
Trust, NC
This tiny little chapel snuggled along a stream in the mountains of North Carolina is truly one of my favorite places. I go as often as I can. We stop any time we are near by. Every stop does my heart and soul good. Sometimes it is a much needed stop. The chapel is always open...24/7! You will find this jewel in Trust, NC just outside of Hot Springs.
It was built in 1991 by the Baruito family after Beverly's miraculous recovery from cancer. No services are held there, but many people stop by for their own moments. You will find a guest book by the door so be sure to sign as you leave. Sadly, Beverly died in 2002, but the chapel is still open.
It is a beautiful wood chapel with stained-glass windows, four pews, a prayer bench and a shrine to St. Jude. Visitors are welcome to leave photos and items. The tiny church measures only 12 x 14 feet and will seat about eight people.
Trust, and the chapel, are located at the junction of NC highways 209 and 63, Trust General Store is located here as well if you need a quick bite, gas, or to grab a few items.
A couple of tips...you may want a couple of chairs to relax by the stream. This is a great place for a picnic. There are a few steps to get in the chapel so if someone is in a wheelchair or can't to steps, they may not be able to get inside. No restrooms are here but if the general store is open that is an option. Sign the guestbook.
