Parker's Crossroads Battlefield - Wildersville TN
Located between Memphis and Nashville, TN close to Jackson. This is a small beautiful well maintained Civil War Battlefield. You can find it right along I40. If you are trying to mark off all the Battlefields this one is easy to get to off the interstate. If not, it is still a great place to break up the travel between Nashville and Memphis. You can get out to stretch your legs and if the visitors center is open there is a restroom there. If, not there are place nearby to take care of that. When we were there the visitors center was closed, but they did have driving tour maps located outside that you can grab and go. Located right there is also a lovely Veteran's Cemetery and regular cemetery with older graves.
Named after John Parker, a Baptist Minister and doctor, who settled here in the 1830's. I-40 came along in the 1960's causing it to grow just a little bit. It became incorporated in 1981. Work to preserve the battlefield began in 1994. The civil war battle was fought here on December 31, 1862.
